History
Poe Supply Inc. began operations in the winter of 1992, doing business as Pure AirSystems. Our main product was a small Air Cleaner made by Stablecorp. Our business focused mostly in the medical market with products and supplies used to remove odors and fumes generated by the various chemicals that were used in the treatment of patients or in instrument cleaning processes.
We seized an opportunity to partner with a commercial division of Honeywell and our business moved into products and supplies used in the smoke removal market. Our company grew rapidly, and we became the largest Honeywell distributor in the nation. We found our target market was in gaming institutions and casinos.
As we grew, we realized there were several other companies with a national presence who had names similar to Pure AirSystems. So, we changed our name in 2010 to Poe Supply Inc. in an effort to eliminate confusion for our customers.
Changes in State and Federal Laws that restricted smoking in public places of business had a major impact in our customer base. While we agree with the health benefits of these laws, we found it necessary to redirect our business efforts into the more traditional market needs for filtration. Partnering with American Air Filter (AAF), Clarcor, GlasFloss, and AirFlow, and others, we now provide product lines that support all aspects of the HVAC market.
With our specialization on filtration products, Poe has educated its sales staff on all facets of filtration technology. Our customers have come to rely on our expertise to help them get the filtration products that are best suited to their particular requirements. We maintain an extensive inventory of product—standard as well as non-standard sizes and types—to better ensure we have just what you need.
Our customer base has grown year after year and now includes BMW, Michelin Tire Company, the Atlanta Mercedes Benz Stadium, and the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in the Greenville, SC area. Our Staff
Nelson "Buddy" Poe - President
Nelson Poe has been in the supply business since 1970 when he began working for the original Poe Corporation. That supply company dated back to 1876 (yes, the time of General Custer) and remained in business until 1992 when it was sold to Virginia Carolina Tool Company. Nelson worked in the Poe Corporation’s receiving department, counter sales department, inside sales department, and purchasing department before serving as the company president for the last four years of its existence.
With all that experience and knowledge at all levels of the supply business, Nelson began his own supply business the same year. 26 years later, the new Poe Corporation has seen continuous growth throughout its life. Nelson attributes the company’s success to his devotion to customer relationships, the trustworthiness of his entire staff and his faithful efforts to be fair and honest in the marketplace.
April Poe - Vice President
April Poe began work at Poe Corporation in 1994. She was young, but brought plenty of sales experience that she had gained in her employment with a rental company, a uniform supply company and a packaging supply company. She left Poe in 2001 to start her own business. 2 years later, she sold that successful business and came back to Poe in sales—an area in which she had always excelled. She soon earned additional responsibilities for managing her fellow sales employees and the office environment. April’s engaging personality is a large part of our success as evidenced by the fact her first customers are still partners with us today. She is now a managing partner.
